Import, export, and migration
Bring browser, Pocket, or Raindrop.io bookmarks into FavLock, create encrypted backups, decrypt them offline, or move a library to a new account.
Choose the right transfer
Import, export, and migration solve different problems.

Import bookmarks from a browser
FavLock accepts bookmark HTML exports from Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, plus Safari ZIP exports. Pocket and Raindrop.io have their own sections below.
- 1
Export from your browser
Save a bookmark HTML file from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, or a bookmark ZIP file from Safari. - 2
Choose Import bookmarks
Open Data transfer, select Import bookmarks, then choose the file you exported. - 3
Review before importing
FavLock checks valid links, folders, tags, account limits, and duplicates before changing your library.
Import from Pocket
Pocket shut down on July 8, 2025, and its export closed on November 12, 2025. If you downloaded your export before then, FavLock can import it.
- 1
Find your Pocket export
Use the ZIP file you downloaded from Pocket. It contains CSV files such as part_000000.csv, and FavLock reads all of them. A single CSV file or an older ril_export.html file also works. - 2
Choose Import bookmarks
Open Data transfer, select Import bookmarks, then choose the Pocket file. - 3
Review the preview
Unread saves go into a Pocket collection and archived saves into Pocket › Archive. Pocket tags become FavLock tags.
Highlights, annotations, and the original save dates aren't imported. See moving from Pocket to FavLock for an overview.
Import from Raindrop.io
Raindrop.io exports bookmarks as CSV or HTML. FavLock accepts both.
- 1
Export from Raindrop.io
For your whole library, open Settings → Backups in Raindrop.io and choose Create new. For one collection, open it and choose Export. Pick CSV or HTML; the TXT format isn't supported. - 2
Choose Import bookmarks
Open Data transfer, select Import bookmarks, then choose the Raindrop.io file. - 3
Review the preview
Collections and nested collections become collections and subcollections, tags become FavLock tags, and Unsorted bookmarks stay without a collection.
Notes, excerpts, highlights, cover images, favorites, and uploaded files aren't imported. See moving from Raindrop.io to FavLock for an overview.
Create an encrypted FavLock backup
An encrypted .favlock archive is the recommended format when you want a private backup or plan to migrate an account.
- 1
Choose Export data
Open Data transfer, select Export data, then keep Encrypted FavLock archive selected. - 2
Choose what to include
Select bookmarks, documents, tasks, and Readspace content. Collections and tags are included to preserve organization; Lists and their ordered items are included with bookmarks. - 3
Download the archive
FavLock builds and encrypts the archive in your browser using the recovery key that already protects your account.
Read an encrypted archive offline
Download the offline decryptor from the Export data screen and keep it with your backup. The tool is a self-contained HTML file with no network code.
- 1
Open the offline decryptor
Open the downloaded HTML file in a current browser. You do not need to sign in to FavLock. - 2
Choose the archive and key
Select the encrypted .favlock archive, then enter the recovery key or upload its text file. - 3
Decrypt and download
The browser decrypts the archive locally and downloads a readable JSON copy. Nothing is uploaded by the tool.
Export bookmarks for another browser
Choose Browser HTML when you want a standard bookmark file for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
Browser HTML contains bookmarks only. It is readable, not encrypted, and may preserve nested collections and tags where the destination browser supports them. Store it somewhere you trust.
Migrate to a new FavLock account
Migration restores an encrypted archive into a new destination account without merging or overwriting an existing library.
- 1
Export the source account
From the original account, create an encrypted .favlock archive and keep its recovery key available. - 2
Prepare the destination
Sign in to the new account. Its library and Trash must be empty, and its plan must allow the number of resources in the archive. - 3
Review the archive
Open Data transfer, choose Migrate account, select the archive, and enter or upload the original recovery key. - 4
Import into the account
Confirm the resource counts. FavLock sends only values protected with the original key and applies the complete library in one migration. - 5
Set up recovery again
The original recovery key now unlocks the destination account. Create a new passkey afterward if you want passkey-based recovery on the new account.
What migration includes
- Bookmarks, favorites, Collections, Tags, and Lists with their order and completion state.
- Documents, Tasks, and Readspace content selected in the encrypted export.
- The original recovery key as the key that unlocks the destination library.
- Not included: account identity, billing, passkeys, Trash, or search history.
